During her final moments, she imagines reuniting with Fezco, the beloved character played by the late Angus Cloud. In the dream sequence, Fezco has escaped prison and is reunited with Rue in a peaceful setting. She also envisions being embraced by her mother, Leslie Bennett.
Ultimately, Ali Muhammed, portrayed by Colman Domingo, discovers Rue’s body, confirming her death.
Why Did Sam Levinson End Rue’s Story This Way?
Series creator Sam Levinson later explained that Rue’s ending reflected the core message of the series.
Speaking after the finale, Levinson described Euphoria as a story about addiction and its consequences, saying the ending felt truthful to the journey the show had been exploring since its first season.
According to Levinson, the series was always intended to examine the devastating realities of substance abuse rather than provide a conventional happy ending.
