    Julian Edelman Salary and Contracts

During his NFL career, Julian Edelman earned around $46 million in salary from contracts alone.

One of his most notable deals came in 2014, when he re-signed with the New England Patriots on a four-year contract worth $17 million. Later in his career, he signed a two-year contract extension worth $18 million, which became his final NFL deal.

    Early Life

Julian Francis Edelman was born on May 22, 1986, in Redwood City, California.

He is the son of Angela Gole and Frank Edelman, a mechanic who owns A-1 Auto Tech in Mountain View, California. Edelman grew up with two siblings, Nicole and Jason.

Although he was raised in a Christian household, Edelman later spoke publicly about embracing his Jewish heritage, noting that his paternal great-grandfather was a Jewish immigrant from Poland.

He attended Woodside High School, where he played both football and baseball. As a senior quarterback, he helped lead the Woodside Wildcats to a 13-0 record.

    College Football Career

After high school, Edelman spent one season at the College of San Mateo, where he rushed for 1,253 yards and 17 touchdowns, setting a school record.

He later transferred to Kent State University, where he played quarterback for the Golden Flashes football team while studying business management.

During his senior season, Edelman became the team’s leading passer and rusher, scoring 13 touchdowns and breaking a single-season total offense record previously held by Joshua Cribbs.

He left Kent State early to enter the 2009 NFL Draft, though he eventually returned and completed his degree in 2019, earning a Bachelor of Integrative Studies.

NFL Career with the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots selected Edelman in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft with the 232nd overall pick.

He began his rookie season dealing with injuries but quickly showed promise as a receiver and return specialist. Over the next several years, Edelman developed into a key offensive weapon for quarterback Tom Brady.

Some of the highlights of his career include:

    • Winning Super Bowl XLIX in 2015 against the Seattle Seahawks
    • Winning Super Bowl LI in 2017 against the Atlanta Falcons
    • Winning Super Bowl LIII in 2019 against the Los Angeles Rams

During Super Bowl LIII, Edelman delivered a standout performance and was named Super Bowl MVP.

He also earned recognition on the “USA Today All-Joe Team” in 2013, which honors hardworking and underrated NFL players.

However, injuries affected several seasons of his career, including a torn ACL in 2017 and knee problems later in his career.

In April 2021, Edelman announced his retirement from the NFL after failing a physical examination.

    Media

After leaving professional football, Edelman moved into sports media and entertainment.

He joined the Paramount+ series Inside the NFL as an analyst.

Edelman has also appeared in the 80 for Brady (2023) and guest-starred in the HBO sports drama Ballers between 2015 and 2016.

In 2019, he launched Coast Productions with advertising executive Assaf Swissa. The company later signed an overall deal with ViacomCBS in 2021.

He also executive-produced the 100%: Julian Edelman documentary, which premiered on Showtime in 2019.

    Personal Life

Julian Edelman previously had an on-and-off relationship with Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima between 2016 and 2017.

He also had a relationship with Swedish model Ella Rose, and the pair welcomed a daughter, Lily, in November 2016.

In 2018, Edelman served a four-game suspension at the start of the NFL season after testing positive for banned substances related to injury recovery.

He also showed solidarity following the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting in 2018 by wearing an Israeli flag hat during a game against the Green Bay Packers.

    Awards and Achievements

Throughout his career, Edelman earned several honors, including:

    • Second-Team All-MAC (2006) at Kent State University
    • Three Super Bowl championships with the New England Patriots
    • Super Bowl LIII MVP (2019)
    • Selection to the Patriots All-2010s Team and All-Dynasty Team

In 2022, Edelman also received a Sports Emmy nomination for Emerging On-Air Talent for his work on Inside the NFL.

    Real Estate

Edelman owns a 3,184-square-foot home in Foxborough, Massachusetts, near the Patriots’ home stadium. The property, built in 2006, includes four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms and reportedly cost about $776,300.
