    Early Life

Marlon David Jackson was born on March 12, 1957, in Gary, Indiana. He is the sixth of ten children born to Joe Jackson and Katherine Jackson.

Growing up in a musically talented household, Marlon developed a close bond with his younger brother Michael Jackson. Although he was not initially intended to be part of the family band, he eventually joined his older brothers Jackie Jackson, Tito Jackson, and Jermaine Jackson as both a dancer and vocalist.

Under the strict guidance of their father, the Jackson brothers spent countless hours rehearsing their singing and synchronized dance routines, laying the foundation for their future success.

    The Jackson 5

In 1968, The Jackson 5 signed with Motown and quickly became one of the most successful pop groups of the era. Their debut single I Want You Back reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, followed by a string of hits including ABC, The Love You Save, and I’ll Be There.

While Michael Jackson and Jermaine Jackson often handled the lead vocals, Marlon contributed important harmonies and choreography, helping shape the group’s energetic stage performances.

When the group left Motown in 1975, they signed with Epic Records and continued performing as The Jacksons. During this period, Marlon contributed to albums such as:

    • Destiny (1978)
    • Triumph (1980)
    • Victory (1984)

He also co-wrote songs like Different Kind of Lady and performed on hits such as Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground).

The group’s Victory Tour in 1984 reunited the Jackson brothers and became one of the biggest concert tours of its time.

    Solo Career

In 1987, Marlon Jackson released his solo debut album Baby Tonight, which featured the single Don’t Go. Although the album did not reach the commercial heights of his brothers’ work, it demonstrated his ability as a songwriter and performer.

After stepping back from recording, Marlon shifted his focus toward television appearances, entrepreneurship, and real estate investments. He also appeared in documentaries and special programs celebrating the legacy of The Jacksons.

    Philanthropy

Beyond entertainment, Marlon has been active in charitable work. He co-founded the Study Peace Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting peace, education, and social justice initiatives around the world.

His advocacy work often reflects the humanitarian values associated with his late brother Michael Jackson, who was known for global charity efforts.

    Personal Life

Marlon Jackson married Carol Ann Parker in 1975. The couple has three children: Valencia, Brittany, and Marlon Jr.

Unlike some members of his famous family, Marlon has largely maintained a private and scandal-free personal life, focusing on family and business ventures.

He has also spoken about the emotional impact of losing his twin brother Brandon Jackson, who died shortly after birth, as well as the loss of Michael Jackson in 2009.
