Wojciech Tomasz Szczęsny is a Polish professional footballer born on 18 April 1990 in Warsaw, Poland.
He plays as a goalkeeper for La Liga club Barcelona and is a former longtime member of the Poland national team, where he earned 84 caps.

Siblings
Wojciech has one brother named Jan Szczęsny, who is older and was born in 1987.
Like their father Maciej, a former professional goalkeeper, both brothers followed the path of playing in goal.

Their father Maciej played for several Polish clubs including Legia Warsaw and represented Poland at international level.

Career
Szczęsny began his career in the youth system of Legia Warsaw before joining Arsenal in 2006 at the age of 16.
He made his senior debut for the Gunners and enjoyed loan spells, notably at Brentford, before becoming a regular in the Arsenal lineup and winning FA Cups.
He had successful loan periods at Roma before transferring to Juventus in 2017, where he thrived as a key player and leader, winning multiple Serie A titles.
After leaving Juventus in 2024 and announcing a short-lived retirement, he signed with Barcelona in October 2024 as an emergency replacement following an injury to Marc-André ter Stegen.
