Police in Magadi, Kajiado County are investigating the murder of a 28-year-old woman in an attack on her farm.

Police said the victim identified as Magret Muriithi was attacked by an assailant as she worked on the farm on October 29. She died while being taken to the hospital.

The assailant escaped the scene. Police said they are searching for the known assailant in the murder. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. It is believed the man was pushing the woman for sexual favors when the drama turned deadly.

Meanwhile, gunmen shot and killed a 15-year-old boy in a robbery incident targeting livestock in Aroo area, Turkana County.

This is the latest such incident in the area amid sustained operations by multi-agency teams, police said of the October 29, 2025 incident.

Police said the raiders struck in the Natrimoi Kraal area and killed the herder before they escaped with an unknown number of animals. The animals were however recovered in the area.

The boy was taking care of the shoats when the gang struck.

They escaped as a team of personnel from the local National Police Reserve responded there. This forced the attackers to abandon the stolen animals and escape amid a hunt on them.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

This is the latest such an attack amid ongoing operations targeting banditry.

The area is among those under Operation Maliza Uhalifu aimed at dealing with bandits.

The operation has managed to contain crime in the area and other counties amid persistence.

The operation targets Baringo, West Pokot, Turkana, Samburu, Laikipia Marsabit, Meru and Isiolo counties.

Besides retributive reaction, strategic investment and sustainable development have also taken a prominent place among the government’s planned crime control interventions for Kenya’s Northern frontier and the Kerio Valley belt.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said the long-term vision is to empower the communities to actively take part in the war against animal rustling and undertake legitimate nation-building activities.

He said plans to distribute subsidized agricultural inputs and extension services to area residents in a bid to revive farming activities as a source of livelihood.

Murkomen ordered fresh vetting for all National Police Reservists (NPRs) as part of efforts to bolster the operations.

He said there are plans to distribute subsidized agricultural inputs and extension services to area residents in a bid to revive farming activities as a source of livelihood.
