The High Court has charged a woman on Tuesday for killing her eight-month-old daughter whom she claimed resembled Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Sevelina Mwihaki Kamau, however, changed tune while appearing before Kibera Senior Resident Magistrate Renee Kamau.
She denied having killed her baby for refusing to take milk which she had bought.
However, Magistrate Kamau ordered her to undergo a psychiatric examination at Mathare Mental Hospital before she can take a plea.
Additionally, the court denied her bail and ordered the mental assessment to be taken first.
Mwihaki is reported to have killed her baby while at her employer’s plea, where she worked as a house-help, in Riverside, Nairobi.
According to the prosecution, Mwihaki was a frequent bhang smoker who smoked during and after her pregnancy with the daughter she murdered.

Additionally, the prosecution noted that after committing the heinous act, Mwihaki hid the baby for some time before the neighbors noticed the girl was missing and reported to Kilimani police station.
During the hearing of the case, Mwihaki claims that she was financially unstable and was seeking the help of the court to give her financial aid.
Magistrate Kamau stated that the case would be mentioned on May 13.
