Police in Kirinyaga County are looking for a 40-year-old woman suspected of fatally stabbing her lover during a dispute at Muragara Shopping Centre in Ndia Sub-County on Christmas Day.
The deceased was identified as Peter Mwangi Wanyeki, 52.
He is said to have been involved in a heated argument with the suspect, Edith Muthoni, at a local bar before the confrontation turned deadly.
According to witnesses, the altercation allegedly stemmed from a disagreement over a Sh60 alcohol bill. What began as a verbal exchange quickly escalated, with residents claiming the woman stabbed Wanyeki in the chest.
He died on the spot.
Kirinyaga West Sub-County Police Commander Jos Mudavadi said officers had launched an intensive search for the suspect, who reportedly fled the scene immediately after the stabbing.
“Detectives are on the ground pursuing leads, and we urge members of the public to share any information that may help in her arrest,” Mudavadi said.
Police moved the body to a local mortuary as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
And police in Soweto, Kayole, Nairobi shot and injured a suspect in a dramatic arrest. The suspect is said to have been in the company of others and had been attacking and robbing locals when an alarm was raised. This alerted police who moved in attempting to arrest them. Police said one of the suspects was armed with a knife and was shot in the face and arrested.
An imitation of a firearm was found on him together with 20 sticks of bhang and a knife. He was taken to the hospital under police guard in the Christmas Day night incident. Locals had complained of attacks by the gang who robbed them of their valuables.
This prompted police to move to action. Police said they had intensified operations in the area to address crime incidents.
