Detectives are hunting for a suspect in connection with the murder of a middle-aged woman in Kabete, Kiambu County.

Naomi Chebet was brutally murdered in her rental house in an apartment by a suspect believed to be her husband.

The suspect is on the run, police said on Wednesday after the Saturday night incident.

The motive of the murder is yet to be established but neighbours claimed the man accused the woman of having an intimate relationship with another man.

Chebet was found dead in her rental apartment in Kabete, with a post-mortem report confirming she had suffered multiple injuries, including stab wounds and blunt force trauma. New details have emerged about Chebet’s life, painting a picture of a devoted mother and hardworking woman.

The deceased woman graduated from a community catering course in 2021.

According to reports, she was last seen alive entering her apartment with the suspect on Saturday night, just hours before she was found dead.

The couple had just reunited after months of separation, a reconciliation that was led by Chebet’s brother at around 9 pm on Saturday.

An hour later, suspect left the house at 10:30 pm, having ended the life of his wife.

He confessed to having done the murder in a cryptic message that he wrote on Facebook, police said.

Chebet was a mother of three.

The police have launched a manhunt on the suspect identified as Samuel Njoroge.

Further fueling suspicions, a Facebook post allegedly made by Njoroge on Sunday read: ” Die and leave me alone, you pr*statute.”

The suspect was last traced to Githurai 45 on Monday, but authorities have yet to make an arrest.

The family is urging the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to speed up investigations and bring the suspect to justice.

Cases of murder have been on the rise amid calls on parties to solve their differences amicably.

Police say they are solving some of the incidents and they are pending in courts.
