A woman who came to the limelight in February for rejecting a house that she had been gifted by President Uhuru Kenyatta, claims her life is in danger.
Damaris Wambui, mother of a 13-year old boy who entertained the Head of State, claims that an unknown group of men has been trailing her.
According to the single mother, the men stormed her mud house located in Lanet on Tuesday.
Speaking to Edaily, Ms Wambui noted: “If it is because of a house that I should lose my life, I end my pursuit for it.
“Yesterday [Tuesday, March 5], a group of men, who I don’t know, drove to my place and forcefully demanded to see me. They directed their vehicle’s headlamp rays to my house, maybe, in a bid to prevent me from seeing their faces. One of them ordered me to move to where he was. I sensed danger and fled the scene,” she narrated.
Wambui further added that she is currently living in fear as she cant even pick calls from new numbers for fear of being tracked.
Revealing that she is yet to file a complaint with the police, Damaris stated: “I am too young to die; I am too young to leave my son motherless. Rejecting the house has landed me in deep trouble.
“Though, I would like to clarify that I have since left my pursuit for that house. I have come to terms that it was given to another family, and there is nothing I can do to either repossess it, or get a new house built for me,” she expressed.
She added that she holds nothing against anyone, asking ‘those after her life’ to cease going after her.
Wambui had previously blamed top Nakuru county officials for her woes.
Ms Wambui’s son, Ngaruiya, recited a poem to President Kenyatta during the Kenya Defence Forces Day celebrations at 3KR Barracks in Lanet, Nakuru, on October 14, 2014, following his presentation, the president promised to gift them.
She however lost the Ksh2 million house to a needy family after she rejected the building for being “substandard”.
The house has since been given to another family that has already moved in.
