Detectives are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found floating on River Tana, Tana River County.

The body had a dog chain secured with a padlock on her left leg and was floating on the edge of the river in the Golbanti area.

Police said the body was later retrieved and taken to a local mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

It is believed the woman was murdered elsewhere and the body dumped in the river. The motive and killers are yet to be known, police said on Thursday.

It is believed the man was killed in the house. The assailants escaped without stealing anything from the house.
