    Kisumu Mechanic hospitalized after shooting by unknown gunman

    Police are investigating an incident where a mechanic was shot and seriously wounded while at a garage in Kondele area, Kisumu County.

    The victim is a mechanic at a garage in the area and was winding up the day’s operations when he felt a sharp pain in the shoulder on Friday evening.

    He was rushed to the hospital where doctors removed a bullet lodged in his right side of the chest.

    Police were called to the scene and confirmed the man had been shot by an AK47 rifle.

    The bullet was taken for analysis as investigations into the incident go on, police said.

    The victim was in a stable condition on Sunday amid ongoing investigations.

    In Macalder, Nyatike, Migori County, the body of a miner was found floating in water inside a tunnel at a gold mining site.

    The body had decomposed when it was discovered. It is not clear how the victim died in the shaft which was half full of water following heavy rains experienced in the area.

    Police were called to the scene and moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

    And the body of one Dennis Fundi, 28 who drowned in River Ruiru a week ago was recovered and retrieved in Gatongora area, Kiambu County.

    The victim is said to have drowned at the river on February 27 while on a swimming expedition. A search was mounted lasting a week, police said. The body which was decomposing was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

    In Kijipwa, Kilifi County, one Safari Katana, 45 died after falling from a palm tree.

    Police said the man landed on his head and died on the spot.

    The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures following the March 6 incident.

    Such incidents are common in the area.
