A 22-year-old casual construction worker died after accidentally falling from the second floor of a building under construction in Tudor Mwisho, Mombasa County.

The incident occurred at around 9:30am on Friday at Mina Building.

According to police, the worker, identified as Gift Yaa Mangi, was working at the construction site when he fell from the second floor.

He was immediately rushed to Coast General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers visited the construction site and the hospital, where they confirmed the incident.

The deceased sustained serious head injuries in the fall.

His body was moved to the Coast General Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.

Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal workplace accident.

And police in Ithanga/Kakuzi, Murang’a County, have launched investigations after a 91-year-old woman was found dead on the veranda of her home in Nginyi Village.

The deceased, identified as Ann Nduruuru Nzioka, was reportedly living alone.

The incident was reported after a neighbour discovered the elderly woman lying face down on her veranda.

She reportedly raised the alarm, attracting neighbours who confirmed that the woman was dead before informing the village elder.

Police officers visited the scene and processed it.

Preliminary investigations established that the deceased had visible injuries to her head, including a deep cut across the eye area.

A pool of blood was also found around where her body lay.

Police did not recover any weapon at the scene.

The body was removed and taken to General Kago Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and identify the person or persons responsible.
