Detectives are investigating an incident where a worker was electrocuted at the Kathangariri Tea Factory, Embu County.

Police said other workers at the factory reported that Moses Gitonga Munyi was checking on a faulty electrical connection at the factory when he was electrocuted.

He was rushed to Embu Level Five Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival on Saturday April 12. The body of the deceased was moved to Gakwegori Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.

A team from the police and Kenya Power visited the scene as part of the ongoing investigations.

Meanwhile, two people were found dead after suspected suicide in separate incidents. The first incident was reported in Mutunguri village, Embu where one Frida Mukami Njiru, 33 was found dead after a suicide mission by using a piece of cloth tied around her neck from one of the roof rafters inside her single-room house.

It was established that the deceased was an employee at Kigumo Filling Station and had left a suicide note.

The body was removed to the Consolata Kyeni Mission Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.

In Nairobi’s Karen area, one Remmy Kimeli, 24 died by suicide by hanging himself with a lanyard tied around his neck on one of the roof rafters inside his house.

A suicide note was recovered indicating that the deceased committed the act out of fear of the kidney disease that he was recently diagnosed.

The body was moved to the City mortuary for a postmortem examination. Police say cases of suicide have been on the rise amid calls for action to address the same.

Elsewhere, a 45-year-old man was found dead in suspected murder incident in Kizingitini’s Myabogi Sub Location, Lamu County.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body of Hassan Ali Mohamed lying with multiple cuts on his body, with his left hand palm chopped off.

The motive of the incident was not immediately established. Police said they recovered a panga, a knife, and a bottle of water at the scene.

No arrest was made in connection with the murder. Police said on Tuesday that they are pursuing good leads into the murder.

The body was moved to Faza Sub-County Hospital for a postmortem examination and further processes. Police suspect the murder could be linked to land deals.
