Yeng Constantino is a prominent Filipino singer, songwriter, composer, and guitarist widely regarded as one of the country’s pop rock royalty.

Born Josephine Eusebio Constantino on December 4, 1988, in Rodriguez, Rizal, Philippines, she rose to fame through her powerful vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and distinctive rockoustic style.

She comes from a born-again Christian family and is the youngest of five siblings.

Her parents are Joselito (often referred to as Lito) and Susan Constantino.

Her four older siblings are Donna, Jocelyn, Nano (also referred to as Cristopher in some sources), and Cookie.

Yeng has occasionally shared glimpses of her close family ties, including emotional moments related to her siblings, and in 2022 she publicly introduced one of her siblings who is a transwoman.

Career

Constantino’s career launched in 2006 when she won the inaugural season of Pinoy Dream Academy, ABS-CBN’s Philippine adaptation of the reality show Star Academy, earning the title of “Grand Star Dreamer.”

This victory propelled her into the music industry, where she quickly established herself as a singer-songwriter.

Her debut album, Salamat (2007), featured mostly original compositions and achieved multi-platinum status in the Philippines, spawning multiple hits.

Known for her “rockoustic” blend of rock and acoustic elements, she earned the nickname “Rockoustic Princess” of the Philippines.

Over the years, she released several successful albums, including notable ones like All About Love (2014), which included the enduring ballad “Ikaw” that reached 100 million views on YouTube and became one of the most viewed OPM videos by a female artist.

Beyond recording, Yeng has performed as a judge on shows like Pinoy Boyband Superstar and Tawag ng Tanghalan on It’s Showtime, and she ventured into acting, starring in films such as Write About Love (2019).

Accolades

Constantino has received around 70 accolades and recognitions, reflecting her impact on Philippine music.

These include a FAMAS Award for Best Theme Song, seven Awit Awards (including Album of the Year and Song of the Year for tracks like “Salamat” and “Ikaw”), nine Myx Music Awards, and five PMPC Star Awards for Music.

She also earned a Best Supporting Actress award at the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival for her role in Write About Love, as well as other honors such as Best Original Theme Song nominations and recognitions from various music and film festivals.
