Yvonne Okwara’s First Job Was a Waitress In a Restaurant

The on- screen reporter, Yvonne Okwara’s first job was as a waitress in the CBD. She worked at Walker’s restaurant at Re-insurance plaza for close to 15 hours per day and earned only 150 shillings per day.

Today she is a Senior news anchor and the Head of News Strategy and Research at KTN. She revels that the experience taught her simple important life skills such as being respectful and smiling, which went a long way for her.

Robert Alai has also mentioned that his first job was hawking socks and Macarena toys in Nairobi. Today he is a Head of State Commendation(HSC) recipient and a renowned blogger.

This goes to show that it does not matter where you start from or where you are right now but where you want to be in future. As the great Niccolo Machiavelli said, the end justifies the means. Look at them now!
