Zara Larsson, the dynamic Swedish singer and songwriter, has established herself as a prominent figure in contemporary pop music with her catchy melodies.

Born Zara Maria Larsson on December 16, 1997, in Solna, Stockholm, she grew up in the Tallkrogen area of Enskede, south of Stockholm.

Her mother, Agnetha Larsson, worked as a nursing assistant, while her father, Anders Larsson, served as an officer.

Larsson gained early attention for her remarkable talent, having survived a dramatic birth where she was initially without oxygen due to a nuchal cord.

Siblings

Zara’s siblings include one younger sister, Hanna Larsson, who is three years her junior.

The two share a close bond, having grown up singing and performing together from childhood.

Hanna has pursued her own path in music as a singer, initially as part of the duo Hanna & Andrea and later with the neo soul group Lennixx alongside her friend Andrea.

Career

Larsson’s career began at age 10 when she won the 2008 season of Talang, the Swedish version of Got Talent, stunning audiences with her powerful rendition of Céline Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.”

This victory launched her into the music industry, leading to her debut EP “Introducing” in 2013, which topped charts in Sweden.

She achieved international breakthrough success with singles like “Lush Life” and “Never Forget You” (featuring MNEK) in 2015, blending infectious pop with R&B influences and earning widespread acclaim.

Her debut international album “So Good” arrived in 2017, reaching number one in Sweden and charting highly elsewhere, including the US Billboard 200.

Subsequent releases, including collaborations such as “Symphony” with Clean Bandit and “This One’s for You” with David Guetta, solidified her status.

Her music often explores themes of self-empowerment, love, and resilience, and she has continued to evolve with later projects, including the 2025 single “Midnight Sun” from her album of the same name.

Accolades

Larsson has won multiple Grammis Awards, the Swedish equivalent of the Grammys, including four in various categories.

She has also secured five MTV Europe Music Awards, ten Rockbjörnen awards, and a Bambi Award for Pop International.

In 2026, she received her first Grammy Award nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording for “Midnight Sun.”

Additional honors include placements on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Europe list in the entertainment category and certifications for multi-platinum singles like “Lush Life.”
