Zoom Video Communications announced on September 2, 2026, the immediate appointment of Jeff Epstein—former Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Oracle—to its Board of Directors. The appointment took effect on August 31, 2026, with Epstein joining as a Class I director whose term will run through the company’s 2029 annual meeting of stockholders. The move was announced from Zoom’s headquarters in San Jose, California, and comes as the company continues to evolve beyond its videoconferencing roots into a broader enterprise workplace platform.

The timing of Epstein’s arrival is directly tied to the upcoming retirement of longtime board member Jonathan Chadwick, who will step down on November 19, 2026, after nearly ten years of service. Chadwick, who joined Zoom’s board in 2017, played a pivotal role in guiding the company through its initial public offering and the unprecedented growth that followed the global shift to remote work. His departure is not the result of any disagreement over Zoom’s operations, policies, or practices—rather, it marks a natural transition as the company charts its next phase of expansion.

Jeff Epstein brings a deep and varied resume in enterprise software and technology finance. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Oracle Corporation from 2008 to 2011, overseeing the company’s financial operations during a period of significant global growth. Prior to Oracle, he held the CFO post at DoubleClick Inc., which was later sold to Google, as well as at King World Productions and Nielsen’s Media Measurement and Information Group. His career has been defined by a consistent focus on scaling public technology companies and navigating complex financial landscapes.

Since 2011, Epstein has been an Operating Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, a leading venture capital and private equity firm, where he heads the firm’s CFO Advisory Board—a group that includes more than 100 finance chiefs from Bessemer’s portfolio companies. In addition to his work in venture capital, Epstein serves as a lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, sharing his expertise with the next generation of technology and finance leaders. He holds an MBA from Stanford and a BA from Yale University.

Beyond Zoom, Epstein currently sits on the boards of directors of Autodesk, AvePoint, and Twilio, giving him a broad perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing public software companies. His previous board service includes stints at Okta, Couchbase, Poshmark, and Shutterstock, further underscoring his deep roots in the technology ecosystem.

Zoom CEO and Board Chairman Eric Yuan welcomed Epstein’s addition with high praise, emphasizing the executive’s fit with the company’s strategic priorities. “Jeff’s extensive financial and strategic leadership, particularly across B2B software and vertical AI, make him a strong addition to the Zoom Board,” Yuan said. He also expressed appreciation for Chadwick’s long tenure, noting that his guidance was critical during major periods of growth and helped shape Zoom into the company it is today.

Epstein’s appointment arrives at a moment when Zoom is placing increasing emphasis on artificial intelligence as a core component of its product strategy. The company has been integrating AI across its entire suite—now encompassing Zoom Meetings, Zoom Phone, Zoom Team Chat, Zoom Docs, and contact center solutions—to position itself as a comprehensive platform for modern work. Epstein’s experience in enterprise software, public company finance, and technology investing is expected to provide valuable insight as Zoom develops its roadmap around both generative and agentic AI capabilities.

Important clarification: The individual appointed to Zoom’s board is Jeffrey E. Epstein, a veteran technology executive and former Oracle CFO. He is entirely distinct from the late financier Jeffrey Edward Epstein, who died in 2019. While social media has taken note of the shared name, they are completely different people with no connection to one another.

Jonathan Chadwick’s tenure on Zoom’s board spanned nearly a decade of transformation. He joined in 2017, well before the company’s public offering, and stayed through the pandemic-era boom that turned Zoom into a household name. His retirement on November 19 will mark the end of an era, but the arrival of Epstein signals continuity and a forward-looking approach. With his deep financial acumen and boardroom experience across multiple technology sectors, Epstein is poised to help guide Zoom through its next chapter of growth, innovation, and AI-driven evolution.

Zoom Video Communications is headquartered in San Jose, California. Founded in 2011 and traded on NASDAQ under the ticker ZM, the company describes itself as a “system of action for modern work”—transforming live collaboration into measurable outcomes across meetings, phone, contact center, and more, all powered by integrated AI assistance.
