    KNCHR Condemns Use Of Excessive Force By Police

    Kagwiria Mbogori, Chairperson Kenya National Commision on Human Rights (KNCHR) has condemned the use of live bullets to calm protestors.

    The commission has noted through their Human Rights monitors the use of Live bullets and excessive force on protesters in Kisumu, Migori, Siaya, Mathare and Huruma.

    They have implored the Inspector General of police to direct police officers to stop using live bullets.

    They noted a series of cases of police brutality with police forcing and entering peoples houses and even to an extent of asking people for money in exchange for their freedom.

    They have gotten reports of death. It is alleged that 17 people have been shot dead in Nairobi, 2 in Migori, 2 in Siaya and 1 in Kisumu.

    Two people have suffered gunshot wounds and 2 who have been injured by blunt objects in Kisumu.

    KNCHR human rights monitors have also been attacked.

    In common parlance the commission has also condemned the destruction of private property by both civilians and security officers.

    They stated that the rule of Law has not be suspended during this period and that Kenyans should remain peaceful.

    She asked that all 34A and 34B forms be uploaded to the public website.
