Strathmore University lecturer, Dr Fredrick Ogola’s wife, Margaret Gobi Mwachongo did not have physical injuries on her person, autopsy has revealed.

Dr Johansen Oduor, chief government pathologist after conducting a postmortem on the deceased, said that she had no physical injuries apart from needle puncture marks that are attributed to therapeutic processes in the hospital where she had been taken.

”She also had a blood clot in the left atrium (in the heart) … but we cannot attribute this to anything at the moment,” the pathologist said adding that samples had been taken for microscopy before conclusions are made.

”The blood clot obstructed the lumen of the left carotid artery and extended into the left mid cerebral artery,” he added.

Ms Machongo could have suffered from edema of the lungs, a condition caused by excess fluids in the lungs, making it difficult for one to breathe.

Ogola was arrested on 1 January after his wife, 27, was pronounced dead at the Aga Khan Hospital. He is being held at Kabete Police Station after the court granted 10 day custodial order to allow them complete investigations.

The don says that he was playing with his wife and rubbished claims of they being involved in a fight.

”There was no fight. This was a play, she had asked me what my programme was and I told her that my plan was to drop the letters. She told me that I would not be going and I asked her what she would do to stop me,” Dr Ogola said.

Margaret, he says then pushed him onto their matrimonial bed and tried reaching into his pocket before hitting her head on the edge of the bed.

”When a woman pushes you, you do not resist. She sat on me and tried to remove the phone from my pocket and I told her ‘Sweetheart you are going to tear my pocket’,” he said.

He left the deceased on the bed only to call the househelp and learn that she was yet to wake up.

He rushed her to MP Shah Hospital and later to the Aga Khan University Hospital.
