Igathe, formerly of Vivo Energy steps down to avoid ‘abusing or betraying my oath of office to Kenyans, Nairobians and my family.’

His resignation comes a month after the governor shared on social media a series of texts which show a some what unbalanced relationship.

The deputy governor on most days as seen in the messages, misses his boss’s calls and instead of calling back, prefers to text him back.

Most governors have been said to have recruited technocrats for deputies as they run the political scene.

Word has had it for a while that Igathe was running the show in City Hall and Sonko was a ‘ceremonial governor.’

The National Government at some point was said to have taken over the county with Igathe at the helm.

    Here is the resignation letter:

Governor Mike Sonko had earlier downplayed the fall out between him and Igathe. He even went o an extent of posting his messages with Igathe.
