    Justice Mativo Suspends Nomination Of Mugenda, Koskei And Gichohi To The JSC

    Justice Mativo has suspended the nominees that President Uhuru had  nominated to the Judicial service commission.

    President  had nominated former Kenyatta university Vice chancellor Olive Mugenda, former Agriculture CS Felix Koskei and former clerk of the National Assembly to to the JSC.

    The case that was file by Yash Pal Ghai’s led Katiba institute challenged the legality of this nomination saying that the process of nominating them was not transparent.

    The Civil society group said that the nomination blurred the  separation of powers and that it would give a perception to the public that the judiciary is not Independent.

    Justice Mativo declared that the nominees should neither be gazetted nor sworn in pending the determination of the case.
