A football fan was stoned and killed during a clash between opposing fans at the Jamhuri Grounds, Nairobi.

Five other fans were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after the Sunday evening clash, police said. Two teams were participating in Bingwa Festival sponsored by Betika Kenya when the fans disagreed.

This prompted the opposing fans to start pelting stones and storm the pitch, forcing the game to be stopped as the players sought refuge.

Police and witnesses said the clash was prompted by what some fans called poor refereeing. The groups clashed using stones, seats and other objects, leaving six people with serious injuries.

They were rushed to the hospital, where one succumbed to the injuries. Police rushed to the scene and declared they had arrested three suspects over the incident.

The injured were admitted in the hospital in stable condition even as police investigate the incident.

Meanwhile, a cart pusher was arrested after he punched and killed a tout in a road rage incident in Huruma area, Nairobi.

Witnesses said the deceased tout identified as Kennedy Oduor, 40 of Huruma Sacco was reversing his matatu at Sokoni when he accidentally hit a handcart which was loaded with water jerricans.

The cart pusher, out of anger, confronted the tout and punched him in a drama flooring him on the tarmac road. Police said he sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the MSF clinic along Juja Road where he was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.

The suspect was later arrested and detained for grilling ahead of a planned arraignment with murder.

Police say road rage is one of the leading causes of death in the country.

Elsewhere, a woman was found dead in her house in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Relatives of Leah Njambi said she had not responded to calls, which prompted them to check on her in Kihunguro area.

They broke the windowpane and peeped through, spotting her lifeless body on the bed. Police officers were called to the scene and established that the deceased had stayed alone in a single-room house and had not woken up to attend her shop as usual.

The body was found on the bed with no visible physical injuries and moved to Kenyatta University Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy.
