Detectives have recovered bhang valued at Sh13.7 million in Migori County and arrested a 32-year-old suspect in connection with the trafficking.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said officers from Oruba Police Station intercepted a black Toyota Kluger along the Giribe-Masara Road following a tip-off.

The vehicle, driven by Edwin Okondo Nyagaga, was found packed with the illegal substance.

Upon inspection at the station, police confirmed the vehicle was carrying eight sacks of bhang, weighing a total of 457.6 kilograms.

In addition to the drugs, four different number plates believed to be used to conceal the car’s identity were also recovered.

“Okondo is currently in custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment,” DCI stated.
