Two traffic officers were on Friday arrested by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers along the Machakos-Wote road near Mukuyuni market in Kaiti sub-county.
The two; Paul Mbolei and Bernard Kamau were caught taking bribes from PSV drivers and taken to Kola police station for grilling.
EACC’s Lower East Director, Susan Kanyeki confirmed the incident saying that the officers had collected at least Ksh.3,000.
“We had issued treated currency to passengers in public service vehicles,” she said.

The commission presented a survey on Thursday that named the Interior ministry specially the Police Service and Traffic Department as the most corrupt.
In March, a similar survey showed that police officers also demand bribes from people reporting crime and those who want their statements recorded.
