The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has invited qualified teachers to apply for training as examiners for the upcoming Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) exams scheduled for October 2025.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, July 1, KNEC announced that the training exercise will take place between July and August this year. Those shortlisted will be required to pay a training fee of Sh10,500.

To qualify for the training, applicants must meet several conditions. First, they must be registered teachers currently employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). They should also be registered with the Public Service Commission (PSC) and possess at least a Diploma in Education.

KNEC further stated that only teachers with at least three years of teaching experience will be considered. Applicants must also be below 50 years of age and must not be under interdiction or facing any disciplinary action from the TSC. Additionally, each applicant must be recommended by their head of institution.

According to KNEC, the training will be conducted in two phases—partly online and partly in a physical residential setting. The exact location for the residential training will be announced later to those who qualify.

“Qualified examiners will be engaged by KNEC to mark KJSEA papers using set recruitment criteria based on the personnel needs for each subject,” KNEC said in its statement.

Teachers who are interested in applying for the training have been directed to visit the KNEC examiners portal at examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.

Those with existing Contracted Professionals (CP2) accounts should log in using their credentials. If a teacher has forgotten their password, they are advised to click the ‘Reset Password’ button, enter their mobile number in the format 2547********, and submit to receive a new password.

Teachers who do not have CP2 accounts must first create an account on the portal by following the registration steps provided. Once logged in, applicants should complete their profile information and save it for processing.

KNEC emphasized that only those who meet all the stated requirements will be considered for training and future engagement as examiners for the national junior school assessments.
