Naivasha Sub-County detectives apprehended a 30-year-old nanny, Mary Chebet, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of her employer, Jane Wambui Njoroge.
The arrest followed reports received from the husband of the deceased, a resident of the Karai area in Naivasha, that his wife, who works at Naivasha Sub-County Hospital, went missing on July 4 2025, after leaving her workplace en route home.
Investigations were launched, and detectives zeroed in on Chebet as the prime suspect.
Under interrogation, she led the officers to the victim’s home in Karai, where she revealed the horrifying scene, her employer’s body buried in a shallow grave behind the house.
The motive of the murder is yet to be established.
With the assistance of public health officers, the decomposing body was exhumed with pieces of clothes tightly wrapped around the victim’s neck.
Chebet was detained as detectives finalise investigations ahead of her arraignment.
