A logger died after a falling tree trapped him in a village in Kabartonjo, Baringo County.

Police said Kennedy Wambulwa was among a group of loggers that had been hired to fell trees for commercial purposes when the incident happened on Monday August 25 in Kassit area.

A tree that the group was cutting trapped him fatally, witnesses said adding their efforts to rescue him did not bear fruits.

He was rushed to the Kabartonjo Sub County hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The deceased’s body was preserved at the Baringo County Referral Morgue awaiting autopsy.

Elsewhere in Meteitei village, Nandi County, a woman aged 80 was found dead in a stream after a suspected drowning incident.

Police said the incident happened at the Ainapngetuny River in the area and involved one Pauline Keiyo. Her body was found floating on the water long after she had drowned.

The circumstances under which the said drowning happened were not immediately established, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Locals had earlier protested the drowning and briefly blocked police from removing the body from the scene. The situation was however calmed by police who managed to remove it.

And a man who was accused of defilement was stoned to death in Nairobi’s Kawangware area.

The suspect succumbed to his injuries in hospital following the Monday August 25 incident, police said.

Some locals accused the victim of defiling a child which prompted a mob lynching incident. Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects be surrendered to authorities for processing.

This is after it emerged some suspects are framed up before being lynched. The cases are under probe, police said warning they will arrest those found to be behind the incidents.
