A woman was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after she was found attempting to smuggle cocaine to Dubai.

According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday, the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Anna Nekesa Kisaka, had concealed several pellets of cocaine inside her body in an effort to evade airport security.

Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit intercepted her minutes before takeoff after they flagged her for additional screening based on intelligence reports and suspicion during routine checks.

Upon undergoing medical examination, scans confirmed that Nekesa had concealed the drugs internally. She was placed under medical supervision and later excreted three pellets of cocaine, confirming the detectives’ findings.

“Now cooling her heels in custody, Nekesa’s import–export mission has ended before it even took off,” the DCI said in a statement.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. Detectives said she will be charged in court once the probe is completed.
