The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), formerly known as the Financial Services Board (FSB), regulates and oversees financial service providers (FSPs) in South Africa. If you want to verify whether your name or a company’s name is registered and authorised under the FSCA, you can easily check online. This verification helps protect you from scams and ensures you are dealing with licensed financial service providers. Here’s how to check your name on the FSB (FSCA) system.

    1. Visit the Official FSCA Website

Go to the official FSCA website at www.fsca.co.za. This is the only legitimate platform for checking registration status and financial service provider information. Avoid using third-party websites that claim to offer the same service, as they may not have accurate data.

    1. Access the FSP Search Tool

Once you’re on the FSCA homepage, look for the “Regulated Entities” section on the top menu. Under this tab, select “Financial Service Providers” and then click on “Search for FSPs.” This tool allows you to search for individuals or companies registered with the FSCA.

Alternatively, you can go directly to the search page through the link:
    https://www.fsca.co.za/Fais/Search_FSP.htm

    1. Enter Your Name or FSP Number

In the search bar, you can enter:

    • Your full name (if you are registered as an individual representative)
    • The FSP number (if you know it)
    • The company name (if you are checking for a business)

Click “Submit” or “Search” to display the results.

    1. Review the Search Results

The system will show a list of matching entries. Look through the results to find your name or the name of the company you are checking. The information displayed will include:

    • The FSP name or individual’s name
    • FSP number
    • Status (active, suspended, withdrawn, etc.)
    • Category of license (e.g., long-term insurance, investments, advice)
    • Contact details

If your name appears with a status marked “Active”, it means you or the company are currently registered and authorised. If it shows “Suspended” or “Withdrawn”, the license is no longer valid, and you should contact the FSCA for more information.

    1. Verify the Information

After confirming your name, make sure the details match your identification or company information. Sometimes, people or organisations with similar names may appear, so always verify the FSP number and contact details to ensure accuracy.

    1. Contact the FSCA for Assistance

If you can’t find your name or have trouble using the online system, you can contact the FSCA directly for help.

    You can reach them via:

    • Email: info@fsca.co.za
    • Phone: 0800 20 37 22
    • Address: Riverwalk Office Park, Block B, 41 Matroosberg Road, Ashlea Gardens, Pretoria

The FSCA support team can confirm whether your registration exists and explain what to do if it doesn’t appear online.

    1. Stay Alert for Fraudulent Claims

Always check the FSCA database before doing business with a financial service provider. Some individuals or companies may falsely claim to be registered with the FSB/FSCA. Verifying their name and license helps protect you from fraud and ensures you only work with authorised professionals.
