The Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) has opened investigations into claims that a minor was assaulted while in police custody in Narok County.

In a statement, IPOA Chairperson Ahmed Issack Hassan said the case involves Felix Senet Takona, who was allegedly attacked after being arrested on suspicion of committing a petty offence at Narosusura Police Station in Narok South Sub-County.

The minor is currently receiving treatment at Narok County Referral Hospital following the alleged incident.

Hassan said IPOA has begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the arrest and the injuries sustained by the boy.

“The authority will determine the extent of police involvement and, where necessary, make appropriate recommendations for redress,” said Hassan.
