Detectives are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found floating on River Tana, Tana River County.

The body had a dog chain secured with a padlock on her left leg and was floating on the edge of the river in the Golbanti area.

Police said the body was later retrieved and taken to a local mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

It is believed the woman was murdered elsewhere and the body dumped in the river. The motive and killers are yet to be known, police said on Thursday.

Elsewhere, detectives are investigating the murder of a 43-year-old man whose body was found in his house in Kapsoya area, Uasin Gishu County.

The deceased was identified as Moris Mwiti Muthee, police said.

He was found unresponsive in house on November 5, 2025 morning by his neighbour who had gone to wake him up as usual for work.

Police visited the scene and established the deceased’s body had been cut deep in the head, his left ear had been chopped off and lay in a pool of blood.

It is believed the man was killed in the house. The assailants escaped without stealing anything from the house.

Police said the motive was not immediately established as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

In Ahero, Kisumu County, one Felix Odongo, 18 was found murdered and his body covered by a concrete culvert.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established, police said as they moved his body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, police arrested a prime suspect in the fatal stabbing of a boda boda rider in Rongo, Migori County during a confrontation between two factions over pending polls.

Police said Steve Okoth, 30 was stabbed and killed during the confrontation on Tuesday evening. This was after the riders differed over planned polls.

The polls were later postponed over security reasons.

Police said they are looking for more suspects in the chaos that also left five other riders injured.
