The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall in seven regions across the country this week.

In a weather update for November 11 to 17, 2025, the department said rainfall is expected in the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley and the Coastal region. The South-Eastern Lowlands, Western and North-Eastern Kenya will also receive rain.

However, most parts of the country will remain sunny and dry.

“Most parts of the country are likely to be sunny and dry. However, rainfall is expected in some areas of the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coastal region, South-Eastern Lowlands, Western and North-Eastern Kenya,” the statement read.

According to the forecast, the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley will experience sunny mornings followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Nights will be partly cloudy, with a chance of light rain in a few areas.

In the Highlands east of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi and Kiambu, mornings are expected to be cloudy with occasional light rain before giving way to sunny intervals. Showers may also occur in the afternoon and at night.

At the Coast, the days will be mostly sunny, while nights will be partly cloudy. Morning and afternoon showers may occur in some areas.

The department also warned of high daytime temperatures above 30°C in the Coast, North-Eastern and North-Western Kenya, and parts of the South-Eastern Lowlands and Western regions. Meanwhile, some parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley and areas around Mt. Kilimanjaro may record night temperatures below 10°C.

Last week, some areas experienced heavy rainfall. The Met Department reported rainfall of more than 50mm in 24 hours in Makueni, Garissa, Kitui, Murang’a and Migori counties. The highest 24-hour rainfall was recorded at Mbitini Station in Makueni at 70.4mm.

Kangema Station in Murang’a recorded the highest seven-day rainfall. Mandera recorded the highest daytime temperature of 38.4°C on November 3, while Nyahururu recorded the lowest night temperature of 6.9°C on November 5.
