    Glória Maria Cláudia Pires de Morais, known professionally as Glória Pires, is a renowned Brazilian actress born on August 23, 1963, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

    She comes from a family deeply rooted in the entertainment industry, being the daughter of the late actor and comedian Antônio Carlos Pires and producer Elza Pires.

    Of Native Brazilian and Portuguese descent, Glória began her acting career as a child and has since become one of Brazil’s most acclaimed performers, celebrated for her versatile roles in telenovelas and films.

    She holds dual Brazilian and Portuguese citizenship and has built a lasting legacy in Brazilian television and cinema.

    Unlike Glória, who pursued a prominent career in acting, Linda Pires works as a therapist and maintains a private life away from the public eye.

    Career

    Pires entered the world of acting at a very young age, making her debut at five years old in the telenovela A Pequena Órfã in 1968.

    Her breakthrough came in the late 1970s with her role as Marisa in Dancin’ Days (1978–1979), which established her as a rising star.

    Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, she solidified her status with iconic performances, including the ruthless Maria de Fátima in Vale Tudo (1988–1989), the twin sisters Ruth and Raquel in Mulheres de Areia (1993), and roles in O Rei do Gado (1996–1997).

    She has frequently collaborated with prominent writers like Gilberto Braga, appearing in productions such as Paraíso Tropical (2007), Insensato Coração (2011), and Babilônia (2015).

    More recent works include O Outro Lado do Paraíso (2017–2018), Éramos Seis (2019–2020), and Terra e Paixão (2023–2024).

    In cinema, Glória has starred in notable films such as O Quatrilho (1995), which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, the commercially successful comedy series Se Eu Fosse Você (2006) and its sequel (2009), Lula, o Filho do Brasil (2009), Flores Raras (2013), and Nise: O Coração da Loucura (2015), where she portrayed psychiatrist Nise da Silveira.

    Pires has won multiple Troféu APCA awards, including Best New Actress for Dancin’ Days (1978), Best Television Actress for Mulheres de Areia (1993), and others for her film roles.

    Notable film honors include the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro for Best Actress for Lula, o Filho do Brasil (2011) and Flores Raras (2013), the Kikito for Best Actress at the Gramado Film Festival (2021), and international acclaim such as Best Actress at the Tokyo International Film Festival for Nise: The Heart of Madness (2015).

    She has also received the Troféu Imprensa for Best Actress, Premio Guarani awards, and honorary recognitions like the Troféu Oscarito at Gramado in 2013.
