The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the resumption of continuous voter registration, which was temporarily suspended for the November 27, 2025, by-elections in select areas.

Through a gazette notice dated January 9, 2026, IEBC Chair Erastus Edung Ethekon said eligible Kenyan citizens can now visit their Constituency Offices to register as new voters, transfer their registration to a different electoral area, correct or update their voter details, or check their registration status.

“All eligible Kenyan citizens who have attained the age of 18 years and hold a valid national ID or Kenyan passport may register as voters,” the notice reads.

However, continuous voter registration and regular revision of the voters’ roll will not take place in Mbeere North and Malava Constituencies, where election petitions are still ongoing.

Voter registration and roll revision will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

The commission also appointed Registration Officers and Assistant Registration Officers in various constituencies to oversee the process and ensure smooth registration and roll updates.
