Police are investigating murder after a human skeleton was found dumped at a swamp in Nyakumu, in Rurii Dam, Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
The body seemed to have been killed elsewhere and dumped in the area. It was not immediately identified, police said of the January 19, 2026 incident.
According to police, locals spotted the skeleton and called for their attention to remove it.
The police arrived at the scene and moved the skeleton to the mortuary pending identification, autopsy and other procedures.
The motive of the incident was not immediately known.
Elsewhere in Kiamachimbi, Mathira, Nyeri County, the body of a woman was found floating on Karogoto river. The police said the body was half naked when it was found on January 19 by a local farmer.
The body had a deep cut on the right side of the eye, police said as they moved it to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.
And a gang raided a construction site and killed a guard on duty in Nairobi’s Lavington area.
The motive of the Sunday incident was not immediately known as there was nothing that was stolen from the site, police said as they identified the deceased as Laban Masongele, 56.
Two guards were on duty at the scene when two men knocked the door and forced their way in while armed with crude weapons.
They then attacked the deceased and floored him as his female colleague tried to escape the scene. The survivor said the two were joined by three other men and tied her hands and legs before locking in a room there. They then clobbered the man to death before escaping the scene.
Police said the deceased had visible injuries in the neck when the body was discovered and moved to the mortuary.
A team of detectives revisited the scene on Monday as part of their probe into the attack.
