Irungu Kang’ata will be physically absent from office for at least one month after sustaining an injury.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Murang’a County Government said the governor tripped and injured his heel tendons while attending a nutrition meeting in Nairobi.

“Following medical assessment, the governor is currently receiving treatment and has been advised to remain away from physical office engagements for approximately one month to allow full recovery,” the statement said.

During this period, Deputy Governor Stephen Munania will represent him in official functions.

The County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Prof. Kiarie, will handle designated duties as required.

However, the governor is expected to resume official meetings virtually from Monday.
