    Early Life

    E-40 was born on November 15, 1967, in Vallejo, California. Raised by a single mother alongside his siblings, he developed an early interest in music after hearing Rapper’s Delight by The Sugarhill Gang. During his school years, he played musical instruments and began recording and selling music independently with his family.

    After graduating in 1985, he briefly attended Grambling State University before fully pursuing music. He made his rap debut in 1986 as part of the group Most Valuable Players, which later evolved into The Click.

    The Click

    E-40 gained recognition as a founding member of The Click, alongside family members including Suga-T, D-Shot, and B-Legit. The group released several projects through his independent label Stick Wid It Records, including Down and Dirty (1992) and Game Related (1995), the latter becoming their most successful album.

    Solo Career Breakthrough

    As a solo artist, E-40 built a strong regional following before breaking into the mainstream. His 1993 debut album Federal set the stage, but it was 1995’s In a Major Way that expanded his reach nationally, featuring collaborations with artists like 2Pac.

    He continued his success with albums such as The Hall of Game and The Element of Surprise, both achieving strong chart performances, with the latter earning Gold certification. His 1999 album Charlie Hustle: The Blueprint of a Self-Made Millionaire further solidified his reputation.

    Mainstream Success

    E-40 reached new heights in 2006 with My Ghetto Report Card, released under BME Recordings and Warner Bros. Records. The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 and produced hit singles like Tell Me When to Go and U and Dat, featuring T-Pain.

    He has since remained prolific, releasing multiple projects including the Revenue Retrievin’ series and the Block Brochure albums. Over his career, E-40 has released more than 20 studio albums and collaborated with major artists such as Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane, and Too Short.

    Beyond music, E-40 has built a diverse business portfolio. He has invested in companies including Microsoft and ventured into the food and beverage industry. He previously co-owned a Fatburger franchise and partnered with Wingstop to open a location in California.

    In addition, E-40 launched his own beverage brands, including 40 Water energy drinks and a line of wines under his real name, Earl Stevens, further contributing to his wealth.

    Personal Life

    E-40 married his wife, Tracey, in 1991, and they have two children, both of whom pursued careers in music. The family resides in Danville, California.

    Real Estate

    In 1996, E-40 purchased land in Danville, where he built a luxurious 7,200-square-foot mansion featuring a swimming pool, playground, and basketball court. The property is now estimated to be worth around $5 million, reflecting the growth of his long-term investments.
