Police are pursuing a gang that broke into a house of a Chinese national and stole his Sh4 million and other valuables at Unity Homes in the Unity East area of Tatu City, Kiambu County.

The foreign national reported the housebreaking incident at the high-end residential estate where the cash and valuables worth millions of shillings were stolen in broad daylight.

The incident occurred on April 17, 2026, between 12 noon and 2:00 pm, police said.

According to police, the complainant, residing at the estate, said unknown individuals gained access to her house and made away with a vault safe containing substantial valuables.

Among the stolen items were cash amounting to Sh4 million, a high-value watch estimated at Sh4 million, jewellery worth Sh287,000, and a Prada bag valued at Sh76,000.

Also taken were important personal documents, including a certificate of permanent residency and a Kenyan foreigner identification card.

Police have launched investigations into the incident, with detectives expected to review security systems within the gated community as part of efforts to identify the suspects.

The burglary raises fresh concerns over security within upscale estates in Kiambu County, particularly incidents occurring during daytime hours.

No arrests have been made so far amid suspicion the thieves had prior information on the cash and other valuables stolen.

Meanwhile, police are pursuing a gang that stole Sh120,000 from a herder in Kulamawe, Isiolo County.

A man who turned out to be a thief had invited three other men to the Tege area pretending he had cows he wanted to sell.

When the three arrived aboard two motorcycles, the said seller drew out an AK47 rifle and started to shoot at them indiscriminately, police said.

The men took cover and managed to escape leaving behind their motorcycles.

It was then that one of the victims said he had lost his Sh120,000.

Police responded to the scene and recovered one motorcycle.

Police said on Monday they were pursuing the suspects in the incident and that no one was injured in the drama which happened on April 18.

The police also want to recover the weapon that was used in the attack.
