Marcos Aoás Corrêa, better known as Marquinhos, is a Brazilian professional footballer born on May 14, 1994, in São Paulo, Brazil.
He plays as a centre-back and serves as captain for both Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 and the Brazil national team.
Marquinhos is renowned for his defensive solidity, leadership, aerial ability, and composure on the ball.
Since joining PSG in 2013, he has become one of the club’s most consistent performers and all-time appearance leaders.
Siblings
Marquinhos’ older brother Luan Aoás Corrêa was once considered a promising talent who played in the youth teams of São Paulo FC and had professional spells in Europe before retiring early to support his younger brother’s career; Luan now forms part of Marquinhos’ entourage.
Another older brother, Moreno, also pursued a football career and played alongside notable players in his youth.
Marquinhos additionally has a sister named Riama.

Career
Marquinhos began his career in the youth academy of Corinthians, where he broke into the senior team and contributed to their 2012 Copa Libertadores triumph.
In 2012, he moved to Europe with AS Roma, impressing in Serie A before transferring to Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 for around €31.4 million at the age of 19.
At PSG, he initially faced competition but gradually established himself as a key defender, forming strong partnerships notably with Thiago Silva.
He assumed the captaincy in 2020 following Silva’s departure and has since led the team through numerous successful campaigns.
Marquinhos has been instrumental in PSG’s domestic dominance and was the captain when the club won its first UEFA Champions League title in 2025, completing a continental treble.
With over 500 appearances for PSG, he holds the club record and remains a cornerstone of both club and country.

With Corinthians, he won the Copa Libertadores in 2012.
