Police in Nairobi are investigating the loss of a civilian firearm belonging to a licensed gun holder following a domestic dispute and the disappearance of his driver.

According to the police, the licensed firearm holder told police that on May 25, 2026, he had an altercation with his wife at their home in Akiba Estate, South C, prompting her to threaten to move out.

The said that as his wife packed her belongings, he took a briefcase containing family valuables and his licensed Glock pistol, loaded with two magazines each containing 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

He then left the house aboard his son’s black Toyota Crown driven by his personal driver.

While travelling along Mombasa Road, he reportedly received a call from his brother-in-law, demanding the return of a briefcase said to contain his sister’s gold valuables. He allegedly informed him he would return after completing his errands.

Police said the complainant later stopped at a cyber café along Mombasa Road to make photocopies, but the driver allegedly drove off and left him behind.

Efforts to reach the driver by phone were unsuccessful, forcing the man to hire a motorcycle back home, where he discovered his wife had already left with her belongings.

The driver, the vehicle and the briefcase were all missing at the time.

Police later recovered the Toyota Crown abandoned at Imara Mall parking yard with the ignition keys and parking tokens still inside. However, the briefcase containing the firearm, firearm permit and other valuables was missing.

Police have launched efforts to trace the missing driver and recover the firearm.

Police told whoever has the firearm to return it immediately.

And three people drowned in three separate incidents reported in Narok, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi Counties.

The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
