Police are investigating an incident where a 30-year-old school night watchman was found dead inside a store at Kivingoni Secondary School in Matuu, Machakos County.

The deceased, identified as Jackson Kioko Nyamai, was reportedly on duty alongside a fellow watchman when he went into the store to rest.

According to police, the body was discovered at about 6am on Sunday.

Nyamai was found lying on the floor after apparently vomiting, with mucus reportedly oozing from his nostrils.

The scene was documented as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death commenced.

The body was removed and taken to Mbaku Funeral Services, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Meanwhile, two women were arrested in Migori County after a 53-year-old woman died following an alleged assault over claims that she was practising witchcraft.

The deceased, identified as Florence Tono, was found lying in her compound in Rongo Sub-County on Sunday with multiple injuries and bleeding heavily.

Police said she was found completely naked and was rushed to Royal Hospital in critical condition, where she died while undergoing treatment.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 9am when two women allegedly went to Tono’s homestead and confronted her over accusations of practising witchcraft.

The two women allegedly wrestled Tono to the ground, kicked and assaulted her before fleeing, leaving her critically injured.

Police officers who visited the scene processed it as investigations into the incident commenced.

Tono’s body was transferred to Rosewood Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.

Such murder incidents have been on the rise in different places in the country amid campaigns to address the menace.

Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing.

Most victims are men, police statistics show. Police said the reported cases pend under investigation.
