Police found the body of William Owembe Osure, 62, lying in a pool of blood inside the suspect’s kitchen.
Investigators established that Osure had gone to the home of the suspect to confront him over allegations that he had stolen Sh1,000 belonging to the deceased. During the confrontation, a fight reportedly broke out.
Police say the suspect allegedly picked up a piece of wood and struck Osure on the head, inflicting fatal injuries. The victim died at the scene.
A second victim, aged 58, who is the deceased’s brother, was injured while attempting to intervene. He sustained head and neck injuries and was rushed to Kababa Hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition.
The suspect was arrested and placed in police custody pending arraignment in court. Officers processed the scene and recovered the piece of wood believed to have been used in the attack, which has been retained as an exhibit.
The body of the deceased was moved to Ambira Sub-County Hospital Mortuary in Ugunja, where it awaits a post-mortem examination as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations continue with investigations.
And police in Eldoret have launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of fatally stabbing a 32-year-old man in what investigators believe may have stemmed from a personal dispute.
The incident occurred on the evening of June 1 within the Petreshah area of Eldoret Central Business District.
The victim, identified as Joseph Kibisu, was walking with his girlfriend when the attack happened.
The woman told police that she heard people shouting “thief, thief” before turning around and spotting her former boyfriend advancing towards them while armed with a knife.
The suspect allegedly stabbed Kibisu in the neck before fleeing the scene amid the commotion.
The injured man was rushed to Uasin Gishu County Hospital by his companion and members of the public in critical condition. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for specialized treatment.
However, police said Kibisu died while undergoing treatment shortly after arriving at the facility. His body was preserved at the hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
Officers from Eldoret Police Station visited and documented the scene as investigations commenced. Authorities have not yet established the motive behind the killing, and efforts to trace and arrest the suspect are ongoing.
