Career
Herzsprung made her acting debut in 1997 with a recurring role in the Bavarian television series Aus heiterem Himmel.

She began taking private acting lessons in 1999 and gained early television experience through roles in series like 18 – Allein unter Mädchen.
Her breakthrough came in 2005 with the leading role as the complex and troubled young convict Jenny in Chris Kraus’s drama Four Minutes, which earned her critical acclaim and several awards.
She followed this success with notable performances in films such as Life Actually (2005), The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008), and Stephen Daldry’s Oscar-winning The Reader (2008), where she played alongside Kate Winslet.
