A new chapter in criminal investigations has begun in Sotik following the commissioning of the newly constructed Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Sotik Sub-County offices, a facility expected to bring investigative services closer to residents.
The office, constructed through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), is part of the Government’s continued investment in strengthening security infrastructure across the country.
The facility was officially commissioned by Inspector General of the National Police Service Douglas Kanja alongside Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin, Sotik MP Amb. Francis Sigei, senior government officials, security leaders and members of the public.
Speaking during the commissioning, Kanja said the new offices demonstrate the Government’s commitment to strengthening security institutions and ensuring quality policing and investigative services are accessible to all Kenyans.
“Every community deserves to live in peace. Every victim deserves timely justice, and every citizen deserves the confidence that investigators are within reach,” Kanja said.
He added that continued investment in modern policing infrastructure, specialised training and technology remains critical in enhancing the operational capacity of the National Police Service to respond effectively to emerging security threats.
DCI Director Mohamed Amin said the commissioning represented more than the opening of a new building, describing it as an investment in public safety, access to justice and improved investigative services.
“Security is a shared responsibility. It is the foundation upon which families thrive, children pursue education, businesses flourish and communities prosper,” Amin said.
He urged residents to work closely with detectives by providing timely information, noting that public cooperation remains one of the most effective tools in preventing and combating crime.
“You, the people of Sotik, are our eyes and ears. Together, we are stronger,” he said.
Amin also highlighted the DCI’s ongoing transformation in combating emerging forms of crime, saying the directorate continues to strengthen intelligence-led investigations and expand its forensic capabilities while leveraging modern technology to tackle cybercrime, financial crimes, terrorism, money laundering and narcotics trafficking.
Sotik MP Francis Sigei welcomed the commissioning of the facility and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening security and improving public service delivery.
He said the project was undertaken to enhance investigative capacity and bring essential DCI services closer to the people of Sotik and neighbouring communities.
Following the commissioning ceremony, the leaders toured the new offices and interacted with officers stationed at the facility.
