Early Life

Warrick De’Mon Dunn was born on January 5, 1975, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

He was the oldest of six children raised by his mother, Betty Smothers, who worked as a Baton Rouge police officer.

Dunn experienced a devastating loss at the age of 18 when his mother was killed while working an off-duty security assignment. He subsequently helped care for his five younger siblings.

Using proceeds from his mother’s life insurance, Dunn purchased a home for the family. The experience later became the inspiration for one of his most important charitable programs.
