Catalina Tomàs Coll Lluch, widely known as Cata Coll, is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Liga F club FC Barcelona and the Spain national team.
Born on 23 April 2001 in Pòrtol, a town in the municipality of Marratxí on the island of Mallorca, she stands 1.70 metres tall and wears the number 13 shirt.
Her choice of number 13 was inspired by former Real Mallorca goalkeeper Dudu Aouate, one of her childhood idols alongside Barcelona goalkeeper Sandra Paños.
Named after Catherine of Palma, a patron saint of Mallorca, Coll has risen from local boys’ teams to become one of the most prominent figures in women’s football.
Siblings
Cata has one older sister, Auba Coll Lluch, who is approximately five years her senior. The two grew up together in a close-knit family in Pòrtol with their parents, Fernando Coll and Antonia Lluch.
While Auba pursued interests such as ballet and later studied law at the University of the Balearic Islands, Cata channelled her high energy into football from a young age.
Auba was reportedly more challenging as a toddler in the evenings, while Cata was an active and energetic child by day who struggled to sit still for quiet activities.
Career
Coll began playing football at the age of six with the Sant Marçal team.
She initially played as a central defender in mixed boys’ teams before switching permanently to goalkeeper at around the age of 11.
She continued developing through local clubs including CIDE and Athletic Marratxí before joining UD Collerense at the age of 15.
At Collerense, she helped the side achieve promotion and attracted attention from top clubs.
In 2019, at the age of 18, she signed for FC Barcelona and spent her first professional season on loan at Sevilla.

During her time at Sevilla, she established herself with regular appearances in the Primera División.
She returned to Barcelona in 2020 and gradually earned more opportunities behind established goalkeeper Sandra Paños.
Her progress was interrupted by injuries, including a meniscus problem and a later ACL tear that kept her out of action for more than a year.
Her breakthrough came during the 2023–24 season when she became Barcelona’s primary goalkeeper. She delivered consistent performances while helping the team maintain a notably low goals-conceded record.
She has since established herself as the first-choice goalkeeper for both Barcelona and Spain, and extended her Barcelona contract through 2029.
Internationally, Coll progressed through Spain’s youth teams before making a dramatic senior debut at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
She took over in the knockout stages and started the final. She has continued to play an important role for Spain in subsequent major tournaments.
Accolades
Coll’s honours include major achievements at both youth and senior international levels.
With Spain’s under-17 team, she won the 2018 UEFA European Championship and the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
She also won the Golden Glove at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup as the tournament’s best goalkeeper.
She was also a starter for Spain’s under-20 team that finished as runners-up at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
At senior level, she won the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with Spain after starting the final and keeping a clean sheet.
She has also won UEFA Women’s Nations League titles and finished as a runner-up at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
With FC Barcelona, Coll has won multiple Liga F titles, Copa de la Reina trophies, Supercopa de España titles and UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies.
