Edna Imade is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Bayern Munich in the Frauen-Bundesliga and represents the Spain women’s national team.
Her mother, Floren, was pregnant with twins while fleeing difficult conditions in Nigeria, including conflict and instability.
About three months later, they continued the journey to Spain by boat, known as a patera.
Upon arriving in Spain, Edna’s father was detained and deported, after which contact with him was lost.
Her mother and the two infants were taken in by a convent of nuns in Algeciras before eventually settling in Carmona, near Seville.
Edna grew up speaking with a strong Andalusian accent and considering Spain her home. She has never visited Nigeria but maintains limited contact with relatives there.
Beyond football, she has studied administration, once considered dancing and draws inspiration from Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho.
Siblings
Edna has a twin brother named Paul, who was born on the same day as her in Morocco. The pair arrived in Spain as infants together with their mother.
During the sea crossing, a large wave caused Paul to fall into the water near the Spanish coast. Another passenger jumped into the water and rescued him.
Paul has remained a constant presence in Edna’s life.
The siblings played football together on the streets as children, and he continues to be one of the most important people in her life both on and off the pitch.
Career
Imade’s football journey began in Carmona, where she played football with boys during school recesses.
A physical-education teacher noticed her talent and encouraged her mother to enrol her in a local football team rather than flamenco classes.
Her experience with flamenco lasted only one session.
She progressed through local and regional teams including Fútbol Base Carmona, CD Santa Ana Femenino and AD Nervión, where she scored prolifically.
She also gained experience as a youth referee. Her senior career began with Málaga, where she played between 2019 and 2021.
She then moved to CP Cacereño, representing the club from 2021 to 2023. In 2023, she joined Granada CF and made her mark in Spain’s top flight, Liga F.

During her two seasons with Granada, she recorded strong goal-scoring figures.
She finished second in the scoring charts in one season after scoring 16 goals.
In the summer of 2025, she signed a four-year contract with Bayern Munich. She was immediately loaned to Real Sociedad for the 2025–26 season.
At Real Sociedad, she scored 11 goals in 12 league matches, including a decisive winner against Barcelona.
Bayern recalled her early from the loan spell in January 2026. She has since contributed goals in the Bundesliga.
Internationally, after obtaining Spanish citizenship, she made her Spain debut on 28 November 2025. She has also scored multiple goals in World Cup qualifying.
Accolades
Imade has collected several individual and team honours during her rapidly developing career.
With Spain, she was part of the squad that won the UEFA Women’s Nations League.
At club level, she helped Bayern Munich win the Frauen-Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal during the 2025–26 season.
Those victories saw Bayern complete a domestic double.
In Liga F, she was named Player of the Month for December 2024 while playing for Granada.
She received the same recognition again for October 2025 while on loan at Real Sociedad.
She has regularly ranked among the leading scorers in Spain’s top division.
Her highest finish in the scoring charts came during her time at Granada, when she finished second with 16 goals.
She has also produced standout performances that earned widespread recognition as one of the competition’s most decisive forwards.
