    KNCHR announces commission secretary and CEO Vacancy; here’s how to apply

    The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) has announced a vacancy for the position of Commission Secretary and Chief Executive Officer.

    In a notice issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the commission said the successful candidate will serve for a five-year term.

    The salary and other benefits for the position will be determined in accordance with the guidelines set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

    The commission said applicants must be Kenyan citizens and hold a degree from a university recognised in Kenya.

    Candidates must also have at least 10 years of proven experience at management level and satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

    In addition, applicants are required to have a Master’s degree in a relevant field and demonstrable experience in areas including human rights, governance, public administration, management, finance, political science or related fields.

    Candidates must also have at least five years of experience at senior management level, preferably in a public institution or comparable organisation.

    Applicants are further required to have completed a senior leadership course lasting at least six weeks from a recognised institution.

    Applications must be submitted online through the KNCHR Recruitment Portal at KNCHR Recruitment Portal.

    Applicants should select the vacancy titled “COMMISSION SECRETARY/CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER” and address their applications to the Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights.

    The deadline for applications is Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. EAT.

    The position is currently held by Dr Bernard Mogesa, CBS, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Commission Secretary of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights.
