An 18-year-old woman was arrested at Ruai Police Station, Nairobi, after police allegedly discovered a pair of pliers and shears concealed in food she had brought for three remanded suspects.
Christine Njoki Gitau arrived at the station’s reception at about 4 p.m. on September 15, 2026, intending to visit three friends held at the facility.
The three remandees were identified as Emmanuel Bosire, Brian Gatheru Nderitu and Ismail Bosire Oilio. They are being held in connection with various capital offences, including robbery with violence contrary to Section 296(2) of the Penal Code and gang rape contrary to Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Act.
They are being held at the station for operating an anonymous TikTok page, using it to lure young women into meetings before gang-raping and robbing them of their valuables.
But the cell sentry’s instincts proved sharper than her disguise. A routine scoop through the food led to a shocking discovery: buried beneath the meal lay a pair of pliers and a shear, cold-steel tools meant to aid the escape of the three suspects.
In an instant, a jailbreak-in-waiting was crushed before it could hatch. Christine was placed under immediate arrest, her plate of deception now the centrepiece of a widening investigation into who else may have had a hand in the plot.
Police said she had brought rice and meat packed in a white plastic food container for the three suspects.
However, during a routine inspection, cells custody personnel allegedly discovered a pair of pliers and a pair of shears concealed inside the food.
The woman was immediately arrested and placed in custody. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attempted delivery of the tools and whether they were intended to facilitate the escape of the remandees.
Police usually inspect food being brought for suspects in custody.
Meanwhile, nine people were arrested in connection with the alleged unlawful occupation and continued possession of a parcel of land belonging to the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims Registered Trustees (SUPKEM) in Huruma, Nairobi County.
The suspects were arrested on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, by officers from the Regional Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Nairobi Area, following investigations into a complaint lodged by SUPKEM.
The arrests relate to an alleged offence of forcible detainer, contrary to Section 91 of the Penal Code.
The parcel in question is identified as Nairobi Block 130/1650, also known as L.R. No. 209/10509, situated in Huruma.
Police said the arrests followed investigations conducted.
The nine suspects were escorted to Kilimani Police Station, where they were booked pending arraignment before the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
