The National Government will hold public sector hearings on the proposed 2027/28 financial year budget and the Medium-Term Budget from October 7 to October 9, 2026.
The hearings will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, starting at 8:30am each day.
Principal Secretary for the National Treasury Dr Chris Kiptoo said in a notice issued on Tuesday, September 29, that the exercise will provide an opportunity for members of the public to participate in the budget-making process.
Kiptoo said the hearings are being conducted in accordance with Article 201(a) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, and Section 36 of the Public Finance Management Act (Cap. 412A), which provide for public participation in the preparation of the national budget.
The Public Sector Hearings will be officially launched on October 7 at 8:30am by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi Ng’ongo.
The launch will also be attended by Budget Committee Chairperson and MP Samuel Atandi.
Members of the public who are unable to attend the hearings physically will be able to follow the proceedings online through a link that will be shared on the National Treasury’s official website and social media platforms.
“Members of the public are encouraged to actively participate and provide their views and submissions as part of the budget-making process,” Kiptoo said.
